Project Hawker in Scarborough

Yesterday we were lucky to catch a glimpse of a Catalina airplane flying through Scarborough.

The display was to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Circuit of Britain Race, a challenge for the first pilot to fly around Britain in a water plane!

Pilot Jeff Boyling will be trying as much as possible to follow the original 1913 route over 5 days. The plane is the oldest amphibian plane still flying in the UK.

It was great to see it flying across the harbor yesterday and we wish Jeff and his crew all the best of luck for the rest of their journey!

Read more about the history and event on the Project Hawker website.
