Quality, Quack and Quirk

Had a fantastic night at the YMCA with the pupils of the Benson Stage Academy.  What a night! We were entertained with a selection of dance, movement and music which created an atmosphere of pure joy in the theatre. From the youngest performers to the oldest, it was just magical.  There is so much talent here and they should all be very proud of themselves.  Well done to all of them.

Saturday night we saw the nostalgic show at the Futurist Theatre `Save the Last Dance for Me` featuring songs and dance from the 50`s and 60`s.  From start to finish it was full of energy and definitely world class.  The story was of two girls going on holiday in a caravan where they meet US soldiers and romance blossoms!  Much comedy and high jinx entertained us throughout and the music was just amazing – performed by the actors themselves.  How they managed I really do not know, but they were terrific.  A fabulous night out in Scarborough again.

Forthcoming events at the Spa Theatre include Abba Reunion on 9th October, The Nutcracker – Russian State Ballet and Opera House – 25th November, and `Essence of Ireland` on 14th and 15th November.  I am just off to book my tickets!  Can't wait.  So much happens in Scarborough!

The Jazz Festival at the week-end was a treat and a half.  Everywhere in the town there was music ringing out – lifting spirits and making everyone happy.  The weather was absolutely fantastic for September so all in all a great weekend!
